What is Reflexology?
Reflexology and Aromatherapy are the most amazing and wonderful therapies which enhance each other naturally and beautifully. They both work with the body to help return it to a state of balance both physically, mentally and emotionally. Once our bodies are back in this self regulating state, it can totally change how we feel for the better.
My passion at the Reflexology Barn is to bring these two therapies together effortlessly and seamlessly to provide you with the most wonderfully supportive, restorative and rebalancing treatments.
Each foot contains 26 bones, 20 muscles, and 7000 nerve endings... no wonder Reflexology is so amazing
The Theory
Reflexology is based on the theory that we can map the body onto the soles of our feet and the palms of our hands. This means that different parts of the body correspond to different parts of our feet, hands and face. These areas are called reflexes. By working and stimulating these reflexes it can encourage the body to rebalance itself and return to a state of well being.
Reflexology should not be ticklish or painful. However during some sessions clients can feel sensitivity in some of their reflex areas. The pressure used in reflexology does not have to be hard, even having a session using a light pressure clients can experience a deep sense of relaxation both during and after their sessions.
A good reflexologist will never claim to diagnose or cure. Reflexology should not be used instead of conventional medical treatment, however it can compliment and work along side it.

Plant extracts have been used for thousands of years throughout history from the ancient Egyptians who used different oils to worship the moon and the sun. During the Black Death period the Hatters seemed immune to the symptoms of the the plague and this has been attributed to the oils and herbs that they where working with. Dr Jean Valent was an army surgeon who used oils for treating soldiers war wounds, he also published his aromatherapists bible in 1964 and taught other medical professionals about the therapeutic effects of essential oils.
One of the most popular ways to receive aromatherapy is through massage, however it can be just as beneficial to receive it through inhalation and absorption. You may find as life changes that you may well be drawn to different oils and their aromas, however aromatherapy is about much more than the smell of the oils.
